France’s love for burgers has helped boost profits for long-standing fast-food restaurants, but it is also inspiring new eateries to develop gourmet versions of the American classic.

Burgers are nothing new in France, but in recent years have become a firm menu favourite in restaurants across the country.

The US-giant Five Guys burger chain recently opened up its first restaurant in Paris, confident that it can compete with the likes of McDonald’s and Burger King.

But French entrepreneurs are also cashing in on the craze, promising their clients burgers that are able to compete with the country’s gastronomic cuisine.
