Earlier today in London fans were treated to new footage of the upcoming anthology film , in a behind-the-scenes video.

The “celebration reel” shows a series of never-before-seen scenes from the film and action shots as its stars tackle some incredible stunts.

“It’s like the fantasy you always had as a kid, everywhere is an amazing shot and amazing characters,” explains director Gareth Edwards.

Talking about the film’s new angle, Warwick Davis adds: “It’s about the humanity of it. It just makes the whole thing so real.”

As the actors run through their scenes – including dramatic explosions and running action shots, Felicity Jones can be heard saying: “Your heart’s beating and you’re actually in this situation and you get something very genuine that you couldn’t have planned.”

“The pressure is so high. We’re making a film that’s right touching my favourite movie of all time, but then if you’re too respectful of it that you daren’t do anything new or different or take a risk, then what are you bringing to the table,” adds Gareth Edwards.

“This is really where a film crew like this comes into their own.”

The new film, produced by Lucasfilms, will tell the tale of the Rebels who stole the plans to the Death Star – fans of the saga will remember Luke utilised them to eventually destroy the battleship in the original trilogy.

In April fans got their first look at the film with a full-length trailer, which gave us plenty of info about the new line-up.

First off, Felicity Jones plays Jyn Erso – a “reckless” rebel who’s ordered to steal the plans by Mon Mothma.

Mon Mothma is an important political figure from the waning days of the Galactic Republic and is first to reveal all about Jones’ new character.

Mothma – who is a native of Chandrila – was one of the founders of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, and the first Chief of State of the New Republic.

“On your own from the age of 15 – reckless, aggressive and undisciplined,” Jones’ character Jyn is told, before quipping: “This is a rebellion isn’t it… I rebel.”

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is scheduled for release in December this year.
