If all goes well, Aashiq Abu’s Idukki Gold will be remade in Hindi. Aashiq Abu himself will be directing the film, in all probability, but the director is yet to give more details about the remake, except that work on it will begin towards the end of next year.
Idukki Gold is a tale of friendship, about five schoolmates who re-unite in their 50s. Lal, Prathap Pothen, Raveendran, Maniyanpilla Raju, Vijayaraghavan and Babu Antony play the lead characters. The film was noted for its unconventional cast and the central theme of psychedelic drugs running through it. None of the cast members are aware of the remake, and thus it remains to be seen as to who will star in the Bollywood version.
Meanwhile, the Tamil, Telugu and Kannada versions of Aashiq Abu’s Salt N’ Pepper, helmed by Prakash Raj, is all set for release. His next project in Malayalam will be Prithviraj-starrer Valathu Vashathe Kallan.
